If I have an extra $40, I buy books. If I have free time, I buy books at Barnes and Noble. If my son is tired of being home, we leave the house to buy books. If I'm in a bad mood, I'm leaving to buy books. If I'm happy, I'm celebrating by buying books. Want some coffee? Barnes and Noble has Starbucks, and I'm buying books. Buying books is a love language, and I am deeply, passionately in love.   I have a specific taste in books and authors that I support. 8 out of 10 times, I put the book back on the shelf and continue the hunt. I'm going to give some book recommendations. Please remember that these books are MY favorite.   Mayhem The Cat Allstate’s Mayhem Cat commercial starts with the actor known better as “Mayhem” lying beside a woman, acting like a cat as he plays with a small toy. Our actress is glued to her cell phone as mayhem begins his monologue.  “I’m your cat, and ever since you brought me home that day. Well, I’ve been plotting to destroy you.”   The following clips are of mayhem doing cat-like behaviors, smacking a handout of his face, dropping dead mice on his owner’s face, and drinking water from a silk facet. Mayhem smacks the sink on and allows it to overpour as he sips it gently. The next time we see either of the owners, the female one is being entertained by mayhem as he rides a self-vacuuming robot, and she records him. The next scene reverts to Mayhem lying next to the woman as she scrolls on her phone, completely unaware that the sink upstairs has been left running this entire time. In my history class, I was asked to write an essay on Jackson vs Trump, I am passionate about writing but especially using my voice in situations where people like me would be silenced. The following is my analysis of both President Jackson and Trump.       President Andrew Jackson and Donald Trump have been compared and contrasted; it does not help that Trump pushes a negatively adapted version of Jackson as his inspiration. Trump highlights Jackson's opposing ideals to push the false narrative that they were alike in "greatness."        I reach into my purse, past the crumbled receipts from my many trips to Trader Joe’s and the unnecessary amount of scrunchies. The tips of my fingers touch the cold tin box at the bottom of my purse. I pull the little box out of my purse, which sits in my palms, still lined with the plastic wrap from when I purchased it. The crunchy wrapping tears beneath my fingertips give me chills. I accidentally scratched the box, and goosebumps ran across my arm. It gives the same feeling as nails on a chalkboard, and that’s the last thing I’m trying to think of before my husband gets back in the car. My fingers search for the opening of the container as I look at the chartreuse-colored tin. I find the opening and put my fingernail beneath the opening. It pops under little pressure. I reach into the box of beautifully colored leaf-shaped treasures and pop one in my mouth. It’s a hot day, and sitting at the gas station, waiting for my husband to put gas in our car, builds to the stagnant hea
